This is the practical half of the island: the businesses you look for when something runs out, breaks, or needs a signature. It exists because that search is genuinely miserable to do from a phone in a rented apartment, and because the alternative — a map application that has never heard of half of them — is worse.

The listings are organised two ways. The broad groups gather a whole trade together, which is what you want when you are not sure what you are looking for. The categories are narrower and are usually the faster route when you do: a dentist, a taxi, a place that will look at a boat engine.

A note on what these entries are and are not. Each records a business's name, where it is and how to reach it. None of them is an endorsement, a review, or a claim that the business is open today.
