What to Do in Baška in Winter

The Bašćanska ploča, the aquarium and empty viewpoints — Baška without the two kilometres of people on its beach.

Baška out of season is a different town. The beach that brings a million people here is empty, and what is left is the part that was always more interesting.

The Bašćanska ploča is the island's single most important object — the Glagolitic tablet found at Jurandvor up the valley — and the museum, the deep-dive session and the guided trail walk all run outside the season. The aquarium is the reliable answer with children.

The viewpoints are better now than in summer: Senjsko Bilo at sunrise and St. Ivan above the town, both with the Velebit range across the channel and none of the haze.

Dinner holds up. Konoba Forza runs its heritage menu year-round, and the traditional lamb is a winter dish.
