# Ježevac Beach

> Ježevac is the long Blue Flag pebble beach in front of Krk Town's main campsite, stretching ~600 metres west of the historic centre. Pine-shaded with full facilities, an attached playground, and a paved promenade all the way to the old town walls, it's the most practical family beach if you're staying in Krk Town.

## About

Ježevac runs along the western edge of Krk Town, hugging the coast in front of Camp Ježevac. The beach is fine pebble — around 600 metres long and 20–25 metres wide at average depth — with a uniformly pebble seabed and gradual entry. Water quality has held Blue Flag status for many years and is reassessed each summer through Croatian and EU testing programmes.

The defining feature is the maritime pine forest behind the beach, providing genuine shade across roughly half the lounger area through midday. This is unusual on Krk; most beaches face the same southern sun without natural cover. Combined with the calm bay, lifeguards in peak season, full amenity strip, and a children's playground at the back of the beach, Ježevac is consistently busy with families through July and August. The pine canopy is thinned and maintained by the campsite for fire safety, so the shade is dependable rather than overgrown.

Facilities are extensive: showers and changing rooms every 100 metres, public toilets at three locations, multiple beach bars and a small restaurant near the campsite entrance, rental sun loungers and umbrellas across most of the beach length, and a paddleboard / kayak rental kiosk in summer. The promenade behind the beach is paved and stroller-friendly all the way into Krk Town's old centre — a 15-minute walk along the water. Several food stalls and a small ice cream shop sit at the campsite end; for restaurants, the old town's seafront line offers everything from quick pizza to seafood degustation menus.

Camp Ježevac itself is the largest campsite in Krk Town (around 600 pitches plus mobile homes). The beach is fully public, but the steady flow of campsite guests gives Ježevac its character: large family groups, multi-generational visitors, and a relaxed pace from morning swims through late-evening promenade walks. The campsite supermarket (open 7:00–22:00 in summer) is the most convenient place to grab beach supplies for visitors not staying there.

Krk Town's old centre — a 15-minute walk east along the promenade — is one of the best preserved medieval cores on the Adriatic, with Roman foundations, Frankopan-era town walls, and the cathedral of the Assumption dating to the 5th century. After a beach morning, walking into town for an afternoon coffee and a stroll along the walls is the standard local rhythm.

Ježevac is the right beach if you're staying in Krk Town and want a full-amenity, family-suitable swim without driving. It's not the right beach for solitude or for the wild-cove experience — for that, head to the south coast.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Ježevac shaded?

About half the lounger area sits under mature maritime pine forest — unusually generous natural shade for a Krk beach. The shaded section fills up early in summer.

### Can I walk to Ježevac from Krk Town centre?

Yes — about 15 minutes along the paved seafront promenade. The route is flat, stroller-friendly, and lined with shade trees.

### Are there lifeguards at Ježevac?

Yes, in peak season (mid-June to mid-September) lifeguards are on duty during daylight hours. The bay is generally calm with no strong currents in normal conditions.

### Is Ježevac suitable for non-campsite guests?

Yes — the beach is fully public. The campsite is right behind the beach but doesn't restrict access.

### Is there parking at Ježevac?

Yes, the lots adjacent to the campsite serve both campsite guests and day visitors. Capacity is good but does fill in peak summer; arriving before 10:00 is reliable.
