# Glagolitic-Inscribed Stones and Their Architectural Settings

> Krk preserves one of the densest concentrations of Glagolitic-inscribed stones in Croatia — carved limestone slabs, lintels, fragments, and complete inscriptions in the Glagolitic script, dating from the 11th century onward, embedded in church walls, museum collections, and occasional secular buildings across the island. The most famous is the Baška Tablet (Bašćanska ploča), originally from the church of St. Lucy at Jurandvor and now in the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb (with a replica at Jurandvor). Other significant Glagolitic stones survive at multiple Krk villages, in the cathedral, and in a network of locations that together constitute one of Croatia's most important heritage assemblages of medieval inscribed stone.
