# Krk Cathedral (Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary)

> The Krk Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is the seat of the Bishop of Krk and one of the most architecturally significant medieval cathedrals on the Croatian Adriatic. The current building, predominantly Romanesque in character with later Gothic and Baroque additions, stands on the site of an early Christian basilica documented from the 5th–6th centuries, with continuous use across roughly 1,500 years. Adjacent to the cathedral stands the smaller church of St. Quirinus and the cathedral bell tower, forming an architectural ensemble that anchors the historic core of Krk town and represents the longest continuously used Christian liturgical site on the island.
