Things to Do in Baška

Baška has the widest range of anything on Krk — beach, trails, climbing, diving and a museum, most of it walkable.

Baška sits at the far south of the island, at the bottom of a valley that funnels down to the sea, and it packs in more variety than anywhere else on Krk. The beach is the obvious draw and it is free. Behind it, the valley walls give the island its only real climbing, and the Vela Luka and Vršenica Canyon trails start close enough to town that you can walk out in the morning and be back for lunch.

On the water there is sea kayaking around the coves, a traditional fishing trip, and a glass-bottom boat tour. Above it, tandem paragliding and the St. Ivan viewpoint, which you can reach on foot. For a day the weather turns, the Baška Tablet Museum and the aquarium are both indoors and both cheap.

Two things worth knowing when you plan. Five of the fifteen listings here need a car — the climbing, the paragliding, the Vršenica Canyon trail, the photography tour and the Senjsko Bilo sunrise viewpoint — while the other ten are walkable from town. And the griffon vulture watching looks across to Prvić, which is a genuinely unusual thing to be able to do from a beach town.
