Things to Do in Omišalj and Njivice
The first place most visitors reach after the bridge — Roman ruins, a free beach at Njivice and the start of the Camino Krk.
Omišalj is the first town on the island once you cross the bridge, which means most visitors drive straight past it. That is a mistake, and it is also why it stays quieter than the south.
The Fulfinum Roman ruins sit on the coast below the old town and are free to visit — the most substantial classical site on Krk and one you can walk to. Njivice, the municipality's other settlement, has Dunat beach, also free, on the sheltered north coast.
This is also where the Camino Krk begins. The long-distance walking route that crosses the island starts here, and you can pick up the first stretch on foot without committing to the whole thing.
Two of the five listings need a car: the zipline, and the nature trail around Lake Jezero. The other three do not.
If you are arriving late, leaving early, or want a base with the shortest possible drive to the mainland, this end of the island is worth more than the fifteen minutes most people give it.
