Krk in February
Carnival month. The masks are out until the pust burns on Shrove Tuesday.
February is when the Krk carnival is in full swing. The parties in the waterfront tent carry on through the weekends, the second children's carnival Sunday falls early in the month, and the Mesopust finale closes the season on Shrove Tuesday: a children's parade, a brass-band procession, and the burning of the pust.
Because the end date moves with Lent, check the town tourist board each January for the exact day. It is the only recurring island event of the month, and it is the one worth travelling for in winter.
