Krk in July
Vrbnik's month: the Žlahtina Festival, Šurlice Days, and the Krk Wine Days begin. Omišalj cooks the old way.
July is when Vrbnik opens its cellars. The Žlahtina Festival puts the town's own white grape on every table, Šurlice Days do the same for its hand-rolled pasta, and the Krk Wine Days begin their run through the summer. Across the island in Omišalj, one evening in mid-July is cooked the way people ate before there were visitors to cook for, and Njivice's Wine & Gourmet Nights continue at the 7 Seas.
It is peak season, so book the table and the bed. But the events themselves are the island's own, not staged for the season, and that shows.
- Aminess Wine & Gourmet Nights, Njivice — Five-course dinners with a guest chef and paired Croatian wines at the 7 Seas restaurant in Njivice — the island stop of Aminess's...
- Dani šurlica – Šurlice Days — Hand-rolled šurlice pasta, served with the island's sauces, in Vrbnik.
- Evening of Ancient Cuisine — One evening in Omišalj cooked the way the island ate before tourism.
- Festival žlahtine – Žlahtina Festival — Vrbnik's wine cellars open their doors for its own white grape, žlahtina, with olive oil, honey and jams alongside.
- Krk Wine Days — Vrbnik's winemakers, plus guests from the island and beyond, pouring through late summer.
