Krk in June
Sailing fortnight off Punat: the Croatia Cup, the Austria Cup, Alpe Adria Sailing Week and more.
June belongs to the sailors and to Krk town. The regattas that began at the end of May run through the first half of the month in the Punat waters: the Croatia Cup, now past forty editions, the Austria Cup, Alpe Adria Sailing Week, the S-Cup J70 and Girls at Sea, organised together by the Punat sailing club, the marina and the municipal tourist board. In the walled town the Dani grada Krka carry on to mid-month around the feast of St Quirinus: the solemn mass in the cathedral, medieval chants sung from the cathedral's own manuscripts, klapa singing on Kamplin, the town band on the waterfront, all of it free. And in Njivice the first of the season's Aminess Wine & Gourmet Nights sits a guest chef and a Croatian winery at the 7 Seas restaurant.
The rest of June is the season warming up rather than a named event, which is exactly what makes the racing worth watching from the shore.
