Best Beaches to Visit on Krk

Eight beaches worth the trip, from town beaches you can walk to to coves that need a car — all free, all best May to September.

Every beach on this list is free to visit and every one of them is at its best between May and September. What separates them is how much effort it takes to get there, and that is the useful way to choose.

Four you can walk to. Vela Plaža at Baška is the big one in the south, Punta Glavina serves Malinska in the north, Punat has its town beach on the bay, and Dunat at Njivice sits on the north coast. If you are staying in any of those towns, your beach day needs no planning at all.

Four need a car, and they are the ones people remember. Oprna Bay and the hidden coves at Stara Baška are both on the wilder south-west coast. Potovošća and the Soline healing mud beach are over on the east side — Soline being the genuinely odd one, a bay people visit for the mud rather than the swimming.

They are spread across the whole island: north, south, east and central. If you are moving around Krk rather than staying put, you can reasonably fit several of these into a week without ever driving far.
