Where to Stay on Krk Island

Krk is large enough that the village you book in decides most of your holiday, and the island is not uniform. The north, around Omišalj, Njivice and Malinska, is the closest to the bridge and to the airport that sits at that end of the island, gentler in landscape and shaded in places by pine. Krk town in the middle is the one base where you can fill several days on foot. Punat sits on a sheltered bay and is built around its marina. Baška, in the south, has the long beach and the steep dramatic ground behind it. Vrbnik stands on a cliff on the east coast and is quieter than any of them.

One practical note. A good share of Krk's accommodation is seasonal, and a place that is full and lively in August may be closed entirely in winter. Check before travelling out of season rather than after.
