What to Do in Krk Town in Winter

The old town keeps working through winter — cathedral, walls, workshops and dinner — and it is the one place on the island that does.

Krk Town is the only place on the island where winter looks more or less like the rest of the year. Enough stays open that you can fill a day without planning around closures.

The old town does the sightseeing: the cathedral, the medieval walls, and an evening walk through streets that are properly empty in January rather than pleasantly quiet. The treasure hunt works in any weather.

The workshops are the real winter argument. Olive-wood carving in the Glagolitic script, ceramics and design studio visits, a wooden leut model workshop, the wedding-band consultation — these are indoor, bookable, and better suited to a cold afternoon than a hot one.

And dinner. Seafood in the old town runs all year, unlike most of the coast.
