Na Vodici Beach
Na Vodici is a 350-metre stretch of concrete bathing platforms in front of Šilo village — easy step-down entry, the same protected eastern bay as nearby Pješčana, and the practical local choice for visitors who prefer concrete over pebble. The narrow 3-metre platform width is purely functional rather than scenic, but the convenience and free parking earn it daily local traffic.

About
Na Vodici occupies a long stretch of the Šilo seafront, just south of the harbour. The beach is unusual for Krk: rather than a natural shoreline, it's a built bathing concourse — a narrow 3-metre concrete platform running 350 metres along the coast, with steps down into the water at regular intervals. This kind of built bathing infrastructure is more common on the older Adriatic resorts (Opatija, Lovran) than on Krk; Na Vodici is the island's largest example.
The seabed below the platforms is pebble, gradually deepening, with very clear water — visibility on calm days commonly reaches 5–6 metres. Entry is by steps for most of the platform length; some sections allow direct entry from low ledges. Swimming is unrestricted along the full 350-metre stretch, with depth typically 2–4 metres offshore.
Facilities are functional: freshwater showers and toilets at three locations along the platform, several seasonal kiosks selling water, ice cream, and beer (open mid-June to mid-September), and free parking in long lots set back 50 metres from the platform. The platform is accessible to wheelchair users via the gentle ramp at the central section.
The defining feature versus Šilo's other beaches is the platform's ease of entry. Visitors with limited mobility, anyone wanting to skip the discomfort of pebble or rock underfoot, and families with toddlers learning to swim all benefit from the steps-down arrangement. The trade-off is that the concrete heats up significantly in midday sun — towels or mats are essential.
Šilo village's character — small fishing-and-tourist village on the east coast, quieter than western-coast resorts — extends to Na Vodici. Most visitors are local Croatian residents on daily morning swims, and central European tourists based in Šilo's apartments. The village's small daily fish market in summer mornings sells fresh catch directly off the boats; combine a morning swim with a market visit and an after-swim grilled-fish lunch at one of the small konobas.
Na Vodici is the right beach for visitors with mobility limitations, anyone preferring concrete-platform swimming over natural shorelines, and families based in Šilo. It's not the right beach for visitors expecting a natural-shoreline experience — for that, head to Pješčana (sandy, family-friendly) or one of the smaller pebble coves.
The Na Vodici concourse was originally built in the 1930s as part of the broader Adriatic resort-development push of that era — when Šilo briefly aspired to compete with Opatija and Lovran as a coastal destination. The original concrete is largely intact, though regular maintenance has updated the railings and steps multiple times.

Frequently asked questions
Is Na Vodici a real beach or just concrete platforms?
It's purely concrete platforms — a built bathing concourse rather than a natural shoreline. The format is more common on older Adriatic resorts (Opatija, Lovran) than on Krk; Na Vodici is the island's largest example.
Is Na Vodici wheelchair-accessible?
Yes — the central section has a gentle ramp from the back-of-platform path down to the bathing area. The platform itself is flat and accessible. The actual water entry from the platform is by steps; visitors with reduced mobility may need assistance for the steps.
Are there facilities at Na Vodici?
Yes — freshwater showers and toilets at three locations along the platform, several seasonal kiosks (mid-June to mid-September) selling water, ice cream, and beer. Free parking lots set back from the platform.
Is the water clear at Na Vodici?
Yes — visibility on calm days commonly reaches 5–6 metres. The east-coast position with open Adriatic exposure produces consistently clear water; wind-driven chop temporarily reduces clarity but recovers within a day.
How does Na Vodici compare to Pješčana?
Both in Šilo, very different in character. Pješčana is small (70m) sandy with family-friendly toddler appeal; Na Vodici is long (350m) concrete with easy step-down entry for adults and visitors with mobility limitations. Many visitors use both during a Šilo stay.
