Dražica Beach

Dražica is the busy Blue Flag pebble beach in front of the Hotel Dražica resort complex on the eastern edge of Krk Town. With a children's playground, beach volleyball, water sports rental, and a long row of bars and restaurants behind, it's the most family-active beach within walking distance of the old town.

Dražica Beach

About

Dražica Beach occupies the eastern half of the small bay shared with Koralj, in front of the Valamar Dražica hotel complex. The beach is about 250 metres long and 15 metres wide at average depth, with fine pebble underfoot and a gradual pebble seabed. Water quality is Blue Flag rated and tested weekly through the high season.

What distinguishes Dražica from its neighbour Koralj is the activity profile. The hotel complex behind invests heavily in beach amenities: a small playground at the back of the beach, beach volleyball nets, a rental stand for paddleboards / kayaks / pedal boats, multiple food kiosks, ice cream, and a long line of loungers under hotel management. In peak summer the western end (closer to the hotel pool deck) is the busiest; the eastern end thins out and is often noticeably quieter even in mid-August.

Families make up the dominant visitor profile. Lifeguards are on duty in peak season. Showers, toilets, and changing rooms are clustered at three points along the beach. The seafront promenade behind connects to Krk Town's old centre via a paved 12-minute walk. The hotel runs a children's animation programme through high season — face painting, beach treasure hunts, mini Olympics — that's open to all kids on the beach, not just hotel guests.

Food options on the beach include three small kiosks selling burek, sandwiches, ice cream, and grilled fish skewers, plus the hotel's beach bar that does fresh fruit smoothies and proper coffee. For lunch off the beach, a row of hotel-affiliated restaurants behind the beach offers everything from buffet-style à la carte to formal Adriatic seafood. The Aquapark Krk water park is a 5-minute walk inland from Dražica — popular with kids on cooler or windy days when beach conditions are less appealing.

The Valamar Dražica complex itself is one of the largest hotel groups in Krk Town, comprising the main hotel, several apartment buildings, and a smaller Hotel Lovorka. Combined they host several thousand guests in peak weeks, which is the main reason Dražica feels denser than the older beach across the bay. If the density bothers you, Koralj is 100 metres away across the small headland.

Dražica is the right beach for active families with young kids, hotel guests, and travellers who like a busy 'resort' feel. It's not the right beach for travellers seeking quiet — for that, Koralj next door, or one of the south-coast coves further afield.
