Plišivica Beach

Plišivica is a 300-metre quiet pebble beach on the northern arc of Soline Bay between Klimno and the larger Sv. Petar bay further north — clear water for Soline Bay standards, gradual entry, and free roadside parking. The lack of any facilities keeps it off most tourist circuits but makes it a reliable secondary swim spot for visitors based in the area.

Plišivica Beach

About

Plišivica Beach sits on the northern arc of Soline Bay between Klimno and Sv. Petar, in a small protected cove with the typical Soline character softened by the more open geometry near the bay's mouth. The shoreline is fine pebble — about 300 metres long and 13 metres wide at average depth — with a uniform pebble seabed and gradual entry suitable for swimmers of all abilities.

Water clarity is moderate-to-good for Soline Bay (visibility 4–6 metres on calm days), helped by the position closer to the open sea where bay water mixes with cleaner Adriatic water. The bay opens roughly south, giving full midday and afternoon sun; the surrounding low scrub provides essentially no natural shade, so umbrellas are essential for full-day stays in midsummer.

Facilities are absent: no kiosk, no rental loungers, no toilets, no formal showers. Free parking in gravel pull-offs along the road above the beach, with informal paths down every 50 metres. The lots fit maybe 30 cars total and rarely fill, even in peak August.

The surrounding character is Soline Bay's quieter end: away from the busier mud-beach concentration further south, with low scrub and small olive groves on the slope behind, and the broader bay's traditional fishing-and-farming villages within 5–10 minutes' drive. The lack of a kiosk means no on-site food but Klimno's small konobas are 5 minutes' drive south for after-swim lunch.

Plišivica is the right beach for visitors based in the Soline Bay area who want a quiet daily swim with no commercial development, families wanting calm shallow water with the freedom to set up their own picnic, and travellers exploring the bay's northern arc by car. It's not the right beach for visitors expecting amenities or for the mud-cure routine — for those, the central Soline beaches further south are better fits.

Most visitors are local Croatian residents and central European mud-cure regulars who alternate the busier mud beaches with Plišivica's quieter swims through their week-long stays. Cyclists exploring the bay's northern arc often stop at Plišivica for a midday swim break before continuing to Sv. Petar or back to Klimno.

Marine life around Plišivica's pebble margins reflects the cleaner-water position near the bay's mouth: small wrasses, occasional sea bream, and the seasonal trickle of larger fish that follow the cooler open-Adriatic water mixing into the bay. Snorkellers comfortable swimming 50 metres from shore find the underwater rocky edges meaningfully more rewarding than the central Soline mud beaches.

Tips for visiting

Frequently asked questions

How clear is the water at Plišivica?

Moderate-to-good for Soline Bay (visibility 4–6 metres on calm days) — clearer than the warmer central mud beaches but not as clear as the open south or west coasts of Krk.

Are there toilets or showers at Plišivica?

No — there are no facilities of any kind. Free roadside parking with informal paths down. Pack everything for the day including a bag for rubbish.

Is Plišivica suitable for children?

Yes — gradual pebble entry, calm bay, manageable temperatures. The lack of a lifeguard means closer parental supervision; the small size means kids stay within visual range easily.

What's the difference between Plišivica and the nearby beaches?

Plišivica is smaller than Sv. Petar (400m) and closer to road access; clearer water than central Meline / Slanica; and quieter than all of them thanks to the lack of facilities. Trade-offs: less swimmable distance vs Sv. Petar; cooler water vs Meline; no kiosks at all.

Can I cycle to Plišivica?

Yes — the local roads around Soline Bay are pleasant for cyclists. From Krk Town the loop via Klimno, Plišivica, Sv. Petar, and back is about 30 km with multiple swim stops.
