Koralj Beach

Koralj is the small Blue Flag pebble cove in front of Hotel Koralj on the eastern edge of Krk Town. Lined with pine trees, well-equipped with rental loungers and a beach bar, and quieter than Ježevac on the other side of the old town, it's a comfortable choice for hotel guests and day visitors who prefer compact beaches.

About

Koralj Beach is a 200-metre pebble cove tucked in front of Hotel Koralj on the eastern edge of Krk Town's bay. The beach is narrow — around 12 metres at average depth — and lined behind by mature pines that provide natural shade for the back third throughout the day. The seabed is uniform pebble with gradual entry, suitable for kids and weak swimmers.

Water quality holds Blue Flag certification, helped by the bay's open exposure to the southerly winds that keep the water moving. On windy days the surface can chop up; on calm days visibility runs 4–6 metres. Water temperature peaks at 25–26°C in late July and remains comfortable into mid-September.

Facilities are good for the size: showers, toilets, changing rooms, several rows of rental sun loungers and umbrellas, and a beach bar at the back of the beach with light food and drinks. Hotel Koralj guests get priority on some lounger sections in peak season but plenty remain available to day visitors. A small playground in the hotel grounds is technically for guests but tolerated for nearby beach-goers. Lounger pricing for non-guests runs €12–18 per day for two loungers and an umbrella, depending on row.

The character of Koralj is more sedate than Ježevac across the bay or Dražica next door. The hotel's clientele skews towards mature couples and small families looking for a calmer base; the beach reflects that. Music from the bar is kept low, the beach attendants discourage rowdy behaviour, and even at peak summer the energy remains noticeably gentler than the busier neighbours. This makes it a good choice for travellers who want amenities without a party feel.

Krk Town's old centre is a 10-minute walk away along the eastern seafront promenade. The route is paved, flat, and lined with trees most of the way, passing Dražica beach and a couple of small swimming platforms. In the old town, several restaurants face the inner harbour for evening dining; for daytime coffee, the cafés along the city walls have the best views. The Krk City supermarket (Konzum) is a 12-minute walk away and stocks beach essentials.

Koralj is the right beach if you want a Blue Flag swim within walking distance of Krk Town's old centre but without the bigger crowds at Ježevac. It's not the right beach for big groups, very long beach days, or anyone seeking wilderness — there's hotel infrastructure all around.
