Pojana Beach
Pojana is a 390-metre mixed pebble and rocky beach on the eastern flank of Soline Bay — clear water (better than the central mud-beach stretches), gradual pebble entry, and rocky margins that reward snorkellers. Free parking and a quiet local atmosphere make it the practical picnic + swim choice for visitors exploring the bay's eastern side.

About
Pojana Beach occupies a long shoreline on the eastern side of Soline Bay, away from the main mud-beach concentration around Klimno and Čižići. The character is meaningfully different: where the central Soline beaches are warm-shallow-and-murky, Pojana sits at the bay's edge where the open Adriatic water mixes in, producing better visibility and slightly cooler temperatures.
The shoreline is mixed — about 390 metres of fine pebble interrupted by rocky platforms and ledges, particularly at the eastern end where the bay opens to the open sea. The seabed is uniformly pebble out to swimming depth in the central section, with rocky patches near the eastern margins. Water clarity is good (visibility 5–7 metres on calm days) — meaningfully better than the central mud beaches. The orientation faces west, giving full afternoon and evening sun.
Facilities are absent — no kiosk, no rental loungers, no formal toilets. Free parking in gravel lots on the road behind the beach, with paths down every 50–100 metres. The lots have generous capacity. The lack of amenities keeps Pojana off most tourist circuits despite the relatively easy access.
The rocky eastern margin is the snorkelling highlight: small fish concentrations are higher than at the pure pebble Soline beaches thanks to the rocky habitat. Visibility on calm mornings reaches 7–8 metres, and the boundary between Soline Bay and the open Adriatic produces interesting current patterns where small fish congregate.
Pojana is the right beach for visitors based in the Soline Bay area who want clearer water than the central mud beaches, snorkellers seeking rocky-margin habitat without committing to a boat-only spot like Lončarica, and travellers willing to skip amenities for water clarity. It's not the right beach for the mud-cure routine (different bottom type) or for visitors expecting beach bars and rental loungers — for those, head to the central Soline mud beaches or further west to Klimno.
Seasonal patterns: even in peak August, Pojana rarely hosts more than 40–50 swimmers thanks to the lack of facilities and the better-known competition at Meline / Slanica. Off-season visits in late September and early October are particularly rewarding — water still pleasant, the rocky pools at the eastern end exposed at low tide, and almost no other visitors. Local Krk swimmers from Krk Town often pick Pojana over the central mud beaches when they want quality water for actual swimming rather than the wellness routine.
The name 'pojana' derives from the Croatian word for a clearing or open meadow, an apt description of the open scrubland framing the bay.

Frequently asked questions
Is the water clearer at Pojana than at Meline?
Yes — meaningfully. Pojana sits where Soline Bay opens to the Adriatic, so the water mixes with cleaner open-coast water. Visibility is typically 5–7 metres vs Meline's 2–4 metres in the warmer central bay.
Is Pojana good for snorkelling?
Yes — the rocky eastern margin is the best snorkelling in Soline Bay short of boat-only Lončarica. Small fish concentrations are higher than the pure pebble beaches thanks to the rocky habitat.
Are there any facilities at Pojana?
None — no kiosk, toilets, showers, or rental loungers. Free parking and roadside paths down to the beach. Pack everything for the day including a bag for rubbish.
Can I do the mud cure at Pojana?
No — Pojana's seabed is pebble and rock, not the dark peloid mud of the central Soline beaches. For the mud cure, head to Meline, Slanica, or Čižići.
Is parking free at Pojana?
Yes — long free gravel lots above the beach with generous capacity. Rarely fills even in peak August thanks to the lack of amenities filtering out tourist traffic.
