Pušća Beach

Pušća is a 450-metre long pebble beach in northern Omišalj near the Krk Bridge — wide, quiet, and free to park. With the same Krk-Bridge view as nearby Voz Beach but with basic facilities and a more sheltered bay configuration, it's the practical local alternative for visitors arriving via the bridge who want a longer beach with showers.

Pušća Beach

About

Pušća Beach occupies a long stretch of coastline in northern Omišalj, between the Krk Bridge to the north and central Omišalj village to the south. The shoreline is fine pebble — about 450 metres long and 12 metres wide at average depth — with a uniform pebble seabed and gradual entry. Water clarity is good (visibility 5-7 metres on calm days); the bay's geometry is more sheltered than open-coast Voz beach further north, keeping conditions calmer in stronger winds.

Facilities are basic: freshwater showers at two locations along the beach, free parking in long gravel lots set back from the shore (capacity around 60 cars), and a small seasonal kiosk for water and snacks (open mid-June to mid-September). No beach bar or rental loungers — the practical character is residential rather than tourist-resort.

Most visitors are local Omišalj residents on daily morning swims and travellers crossing the Krk Bridge who stop for a quick swim. International tourist density is meaningfully lower than at central Pesja in Omišalj village itself.

Pušća is the right beach for first-day or last-day Krk visitors crossing the bridge, families wanting a long flat shoreline with basic facilities and free parking, and travellers preferring a quieter alternative to busier central Omišalj beaches. It's not the right beach for visitors expecting amenities or beach-bar atmosphere.

For evening dining, Omišalj's old town centre (5 minutes' drive south) has small konobas and the historic town square. The Krk Bridge view is visible from the northern end of the beach — particularly striking at sunset when the bridge silhouette catches the warm light. Combining a Pušća swim with a sunset walk along the seafront promenade towards Voz makes for a relaxed evening itinerary.

The wider northern Omišalj area is shaped by its proximity to the Krk Bridge and Rijeka airport — both within 25 minutes by car. This makes the area popular for short stays and first-day or last-day base before exploring further south. Several small Omišalj apartments cater specifically to airport-proximate visitors who want easy beach access without driving deep into the island.

For visitors with a 4–5 hour layover at Rijeka airport, Pušća offers a practical mini-Krk experience: 25 minutes' drive from the airport, free parking, basic facilities, swimmable water from May through October, and the dramatic Krk Bridge view nearby for photos. Several Omišalj-area car-rental returns and short-stay apartments cater specifically to this airport-proximate market with explicit short-stay options.
