Rosulje Beach

Rosulje is a small 160-metre mixed pebble and rocky beach west of Njivice village, reachable on foot from the coastal path. Three surface types in one small cove (pebble, concrete platforms, rocky margins), no commercial development whatsoever, and the same clear western Adriatic water as the busier central Njivice beaches further east along the bay.

About

Rosulje Beach occupies a small bay west of Njivice village centre, in the stretch of coast running towards Vantačići. The shoreline mixes three surface types within 160 metres: fine pebble in the central section, concrete bathing platforms at the eastern end (legacy of an old hotel that operated here decades ago), and rocky ledges and small platforms at the western margins.

The seabed is uniformly pebble out to swimming depth in the central section, transitioning to rocky margins at the western end. Water clarity is good (visibility 4–6 metres on calm days). The bay's western orientation gives full afternoon and evening sun.

No facilities exist at Rosulje. No kiosks, no rental loungers, no formal toilets or showers. There's no parking either — visitors arrive on foot via the coastal path from central Njivice (15 minutes) or by bike along the same route. The lack of vehicle access keeps commercial development out, which is exactly what keeps the bay quiet.

The small size and varied surface options make Rosulje a versatile cove. Visitors can pick their preferred entry style without changing beaches: pebble for soft entry, concrete platforms for step-down convenience, rocky margins for snorkelling. Most visitors are local Njivice residents on bike rides along the coastal path; international tourist density is low because the cove isn't actively promoted and isn't visible from the road.

Rosulje is the right beach for visitors based in Njivice who want a quieter alternative to busy central beaches, snorkellers seeking the rocky margins, and cyclists exploring the coastal path. It's not the right beach for visitors expecting amenities or families with very young children given the walking access. The 15-minute walk from central Njivice is pleasant in itself, passing several other small unnamed coves that knowledgeable hikers can drop into.

For evening dining, walk back into central Njivice (15 minutes east along the coastal path) for the village's restaurant variety. Rosulje has no on-site food; bring everything for the day.

The coastal path from central Njivice west to Vantačići passes Rosulje and continues for another 1.5 km through several small unnamed coves before arriving at Vantačići's central beach. Photographers find the path particularly rewarding at golden hour: the western orientation gives evening light over a series of small bays, and the path's small elevations provide natural vantage points for landscape compositions. The full Njivice-to-Vantačići walk is about 30 minutes one way; doing it as an out-and-back with two or three swim stops makes for a relaxed half-day.
