What's On in Krk, Month by Month
The island's recurring events -- the fair, the carnival, the regattas, the harvests -- laid out across the year, so you can pick a month before you pick a week.
Krk keeps a calendar that has nothing to do with the tourist season. The carnival takes the town in the dead of winter. The sailing clubs race off Punat before most beaches have opened. Vrbnik pours its own wine in July, Krk town holds a fair that predates most of Europe's, Baška pulls nets the way it has since 1910, and the olive presses start in October when the last visitors have left.
This page lists what happens every year, not what happened to be on last Tuesday. Each month links to its own page, which names the recurring events with when they usually fall, who runs them, and where. Where an organiser announces the date each year rather than fixing it, the page says so rather than guessing. Live listings for the current year sit alongside, drawn from the event feed as it fills.
Some months are full and some are honestly quiet. That is the island, and the calendar does not pretend otherwise.
- Krk in January — The carnival begins: masks take Krk town at the end of the month and hold it until Lent.
- Krk in February — Carnival month. The masks are out until the pust burns on Shrove Tuesday.
- Krk in March — The run-up to Easter: an exhibition in Omišalj and the first free town walks.
- Krk in April — Easter on the island: three days of tradition, music and outdoor events in Krk town and Baška.
- Krk in May — Black Sheep in Baška, and the sailing fortnight begins off Punat at the month's end.
- Krk in June — Sailing fortnight off Punat: the Croatia Cup, the Austria Cup, Alpe Adria Sailing Week and more.
- Krk in July — Vrbnik's month: the Žlahtina Festival, Šurlice Days, and the Krk Wine Days begin. Omišalj cooks the old way.
- Krk in August — The fullest month: Lovrečeva in Krk town, Fishermen's Days in Baška, cheese in Malinska, and the feast of the Assumption.
- Krk in September — The season eases and the island gets its roads back: a car meet in Punat and a professional cycling race passing through.
- Krk in October — Harvest month: the olive days begin in Punat, and the mountain-bike marathon rolls out of Baška.
- Krk in November — The quiet month, with two dates worth planning around: Malinska's outdoor weekend and Punat's feast of St Andrew.
- Krk in December — Advent in Krk town and Malinska, and a Christmas fair in Omišalj.
